  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Philip Bader -- An Engaging History of World War II for Readers of Every Age : R. Kent Rasmussen’s World War II Q&A is an engaging work of history aimed at young readers but nonetheless rewarding for more mature audiences because of its wealth of detail and its inclusion of unusual bits of fascinating history. For example, I had long considered Thailand a neutral nation during World War II. In fact, Thailand was a member of the Axis powers. It had been neutral until a brief invasion by Japanese forces in 1941, after which the two countries signed an armistice and a formal military alliance. I also wasn’t aware that the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 began not with warplanes but with five mini-submarines, each carrying a crew of two and armed with two torpedos.
